Introduction

PCLinuxOS is a Linux distribution suited for users with not much technical knowledge about Linux. Often abbreviated as PCLOS by its community, it began as a project based on Mandrake (now Mandriva), but later completely forked out as a separate distribution. PCLOS still uses some source from the Mandriva repository.

The creator of PCLOS, Texstar, before starting the PCLinuxOS project, was a RPM packager for Mandrake. He and his team (the Ripper Gang) are the current maintainers and developers of PCLOS.

Success

PCLinuxOS is currently the #1 Linux distribution according to the popular distro rankings of www.distrowatch.com. PCLOS also enjoys a wide user base.

Connection with Granular

Currently, Granular is based on PCLinuxOS and utilizes its repositories (along with its own) for software management.
