Introduction

The grl package format is a packaging technique made and used by Team Granular to distribute the patches related to fixing bugs and problems in Granular. The grl packages are also released for those softwares that are not available in the Granular or PCLinuxOS RPM repository.

Where to find grl packages?

Find the latest and archived grl packages at: http://www.granularproject.org/packages/

How to install a grl package?

Go to Menu > Granular > Install grl. From the dialog that appears, browse to the location where the grl to be installed lies, select the grl, and click "Open" button.

How are grl packages made?

grl packages are built around the fake-root approach of packaging. The source package is built into a directory which is then later packaged as a grl along with its installation instruction scripts.

Requesting a grl package

If you want a specific software / package (which is not in the Granular and PCLinuxOS repository) to be packaged as a grl, you can make the request at the Granular Community Forums.

If your request meets the criteria laid out by Team Granular, it would be packaged as soon as possible after the request has been made.
