Introduction
Granular FunWorks (FW for short) is the special DVD version of Granular released annually. Each year, only one version of Granular comes out and FW comes out as an extension to that version. Extension means added software and functionality. The need for a DVD edition of Granular was felt pertaining to the reason that the CD version, due to size limitations, cannot contain some extra softwares and applications, like 3D games, more desktop environments, more multimedia player, and more general purpose tools and utilities.
The only version of FW released till now was Granular FW2007, released on 7th October 2007, which was the DVD extension of Granular v0.90.
Size of FunWorks DVD
FW2007 was 1.92GB in size. And the subsequent FW releases would be around the same size as the 2007 version.
Around what time is FW released in a year?
Currently, Team Granular has decided to roll out a FW release around October/November every year, but the release date is liable to change.
System requirements
The system requirements of a FW release are almost the same as that of the version around which it is built. But for playing 3D games, you would be needing a decent onboard graphics/graphics card as well.
